Just when it seems that every piece of land has been mapped out on the globe and we’ve discovered all there is to discover on this earth, news breaks of another uncovered treasure, like the one recently found in Ukraine, and we are reminded that there are still people out there looking for – and finding – lost pieces of history.

Next week in Dallas, you can hear from the man who discovered the RMS Titanic in 1985, National Geographic’s Explorer-in-Residence Robert Ballard, at the NAT GEO Live! event at Winspear Opera House in Dallas, January 17, at 8pm. Tickets start at $25.

Ballard has made more than 120 deep-sea expeditions, and now spends nearly half the year onboard his new ship, the E/V Nautilus, exploring the Black Sea, Aegean, Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean.

At the Winspear, he’ll likely cover the Titanic’s current predicament – the threat of further destruction by numerous visits to the site. Catch the National Geographic Channel’s documentary, Save the Titanic with Bob Ballard, scheduled to air on January 22 at 1pm.

And the Titanic – The Artifact Exhibition is still open at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Get your ticket to see hundreds of artifacts and recreated rooms before the close of the exhibit on March 24.
